not all that is gold glitters

By foxystone

goldenrod-field.jpgToday Jim and I are beginning our search for gold. I think back to my days on the farm and the beautiful endless September weekends that were filled with purpose. There were apples to be picked, corn to be shucked, and the last burgeoning basketfuls of produce from the fields to make into all kinds of relishes and sauce. My favorite uncle was Italian, a striking boisterous figure to the stolid nature of my Irish and German blood relatives. From the end of August to the end of September his kitchen smelled of roasting peppers, stewed tomatoes and herbs, all picked from his lovingly tended garden. On amber days like this one, I often think of those times when the entire world could be cupped in my hands and and drank slowly and deliciously. Not all that is gold glitters. As a society I think that in our rush to be gods, we are forgetting the one who gave us this divine right, our mother earth. I have not forgotten. Wish us well on our search for our fortune.

meadow1.jpgI hope that if you have not found your gold on this first golden September weekend that she gently reminds you of what you are missing and where to begin your own quest.

We all need find our own unique pot of gold.

We will continue our search until we have satisfied our goals. We know what we want and now the hunt is on. I’m just glad that our love did not take years or did it?
